What is wing chun?
Wing Chun, originated in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) in South China, is a martial art that specializes in close-range combat. It is based on principles of simplicity and economy of movement and energy, and primarily involves hand strikes.
An important element of training is chi sau: Two opponents face each other and practice offensive and defensive techniques while keeping their arms or hands in contact.
A Wing Chun practitioner is agile but powerful. He or she relies on biomechanics through quick, close-range punches and kicks, instead of strong force.
