Cloud Gate 2: 13 Tongues in Shanghai

With the main focus on showcasing talented young choreographers and dancers from Taiwan, Cloud Gate 2 was formed in 1999 by Lin Hwai-min. In 2014, choreographer Cheng Tsung-lung succeeding Lo Man-fei, its founding director, was appointed as the artistic director. Cloud Gate 2 does not prepare dancers for Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan; it has its own independent artistic identity. Its annual season, Spring Riot, presenting innovative works, is a must-see for dance lovers in Taiwan. Cloud Gate 2 also reaches out to tens of thousands of people by holding free outdoor performances as well as residency programs on campuses and in grassroots communities in Taiwan. Cloud Gate 2 has been acclaimed in venues and festivals worldwide, including Fall for Dance Festival and the Joyce Theater in New York; Sadler's Wells in London; Internationale Tanzmesse NRW in Dusseldorf; Esplanade-Theatres on the Bay in Singapore; and major cities in China.
