UK to showcase green innovation at Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition
The United Kingdom will exhibit its latest innovations and garden designs at the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition, which will start on April 29 and last through Oct 7 in Beijing.
The UK exhibition will be themed "Innovating for a greener future". The UK's garden and pavilion will occupy an area of 2,000 square meters.
With sustainability in mind, the UK garden and pavilion is built with recyclable structures to lower carbon emissions. The space will include a colorful meadow, wild woods and grasses and scented flowers designed to attract pollinators, which are critical to the food chain. A "Living Lab" area will show visitors new methods and techniques in horticulture and food production.
Barbara Woodward, UK's ambassador to China, said the UK is honored to be part of the exhibition, which will further strengthen its green partnership with China.
"Our participation will create more opportunities for our governments, our scientists and our businesses to work together to create a greener world," she said.
During the exhibition, the UK will also deliver a series of events on agricultural technology, clean energy, green finance and future cities.
