Beijing solo puts spotlight on hermit artist
Jin Yuren, a veteran artist from East China's Zhejiang province, is holding his first solo show Material at the Rose Bud Art Center in the 798 Art Zone in northern Beijing.
Trained at the Hangzhou-based China Academy of Art in the late 1980s, the 53-year-old once took an active role in China's modernist art movements. However, he has since led a solitary life like a hermit in the deep mountains near the Fuchun River since late 1990s.
Jin indulged himself in histories and philosophies from the East and the West while venturing into a multitude of artistic experiments.
Running through Dec 25, the Beijing solo chronicles the versatile artist's decades-long experiments with Chinese ink on paper, etching, collage and comprehensive materials on textile.
