World of Beer arrives in Beijing
US bar-and-kitchen brand World of Beer recently opened its first Beijing branch. The bar is known for its craft beer and cocktails. It currently provides selections from local brewers Jing A and Boxing Cat, as well as Californian brand Goose Island. A standout dish is the Burger Wellington, a succulent Angus beef patty wrapped in a light and creamy puff pastry.

Gyu Testu focuses on Japanese-style barbecue with quality fresh beef. The rib marinated in sake and special sauce is the must-try, as is the juicy thick-sliced ox-tongue. The strawberry dessert and mango smoothies are sweet finishes during the summer heat.

New menus for Sichuan-cuisine chain
Two-decade-old Sichuan chain Qiaojiangnan has resumed operations as the COVID-19 outbreak comes largely under control by inviting Sichuan-cuisine master Lan Minglu to become its chief product officer. Lan has updated 49 dishes for the brand by incorporating his understanding of elevating authentic Sichuan flavors. From traditional mapo tofu to modern abalone slices with pepper, each dish presents a classic regional taste.

Oysters from plane to plate
Chengdu-based fresh-oyster buffet chain Haoyingxiong opened its Beijing branch in June. All oysters are from Shandong province and are served within four hours of arrival. They can be barbecued with garlic sauce, which is rich in flavor, or steamed, which accentuates their original freshness.
