New skyscraper in Shanghai begins construction
The Bank of China Financial Center, a 200-meter-high twin tower in Shanghai's Lin-Gang Special Area, started construction on Sunday.
The 39-story building by the Bank of China Group Investment Limited will span more than 110,000 square meters and is expected to become a new landmark in the area.
Other projects in the area, such as Information Flying Fish, a global digital economy innovation island, and Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment Inc, the base of global micro-fabrication equipment company, also started construction on the same day.
The Lin-Gang Special Area has 12 projects worth 22.4 billion yuan ($3.47 billion) in investment in the second quarter of this year. These projects include offices, commercial and residential developments, schools, rental housing, and a logistics center.
