Suzhou in the prosperous Jiangsu province has produced one of the four prestigious schools of Chinese embroidery in history. The consummate Su Embroidery remains today a trademark of class and craftsmanship, for its variety of stitches, fine techniques, elegant colors and vivid presentations.

Yao Jianping, a State-designated inheritor of Su Embroidery, delivered an online lecture to introduce its long history and modern evolution on June 3, the day of the Dragon Boat Festival. It was part of the public education programs curated by the China National Arts and Crafts Museum and China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum. Wearing incense sachets embroidered with elegant patterns used to be a custom of Dragon Boat Festival. Yao showed people how to stitch on the incense bags, and took questions from netizens.
