Envoys laud China's major achievements
Ambassadors look to country's continued contributions to the world
Foreign ambassadors in Beijing on Friday conveyed their congratulations to the successful convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, expressing their belief that the country would record more spectacular achievements and contribute further to the world.
At a briefing held by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, the ambassadors expressed their countries' readiness to deepen cooperation with China.
China has eradicated absolute poverty and built a moderately prosperous society in all respects, with those feats achieved under the leadership of the Party and representing the country's remarkable contributions to the progress of humanity, Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov said.
China has demonstrated a fresh face, socially, politically and economically, compared with the country it used to be in the 1980s when he first set foot on its soil, Morgulov said, adding that he believes China is able to deliver the social and economic tasks enshrined in the report released at the congress and consolidate its international status.
Noting that the report charts the course for China's diplomacy, he said it would help Russia and China to strengthen coordination globally.
Both Russia and China stand against hegemony, champion abiding by the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter, and support building a multipolar world order featuring fairness and equity, he added.
Noting the report takes stock of achievements and experience, Siyabonga Cyprian Cwele, South Africa's ambassador to China, said the congress would inject stronger confidence to the Chinese people to realize the nation's missions.
He expressed expectations of South Africa and China deepening cooperation and joining forces to respond to global challenges such as climate change and COVID-19.
The Chinese path to modernization, a vision enshrined in the report, also drew attention from foreign guests.
The Chinese path to modernization is of great significance as China creates opportunities for the world with its own development and offers its solutions to deficits in peace and development, Malaysian Ambassador to China Raja Dato' Nushirwan Zainal Abidin said.
"China's average contribution to global economic growth exceeded 30 percent during the 2013-2021 period," he said, adding that the country's rise also benefits Malaysia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
He highlighted the Global Development Initiative, calling it a welcomed proposal that could help realize the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
"The Global Security Initiative is also very welcomed amid a lot of instabilities and uncertainties in the world today," he said.
Namibian Ambassador to China Elia George Kaiyamo expressed appreciation for the Chinese path to modernization, as one of its unique features is pursuing common prosperity for all.
"Common prosperity is an important idea for it tells us that humanity should have a shared future and that's why we need to work for the prospect," he said.
