The 11th China Acrobatic Exhibition will kick off in Shandong province on March 16, featuring a series of high-quality acrobatic performances and magic shows, according to a news conference held by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Beijing on March 9.
From March 16 to 29, about 47 performances and magic shows as well as six plays starring acrobats will be staged at six theaters in major cities, such as Jinan, Jining and Dezhou, in Shandong province. These acrobatic and magic performances cover a variety of skill forms, including juggling, lifting, suspension, balance, riding, and contortion.
The opening performance will be Railway Heroes?produced by Shandong Acrobatics Troupe. It's adapted from a well-known Chinese novel The Railway Guerrillas, which tells the story of a group of guerrillas who sabotaged Japanese forces during World War II.
"The Railway Guerrillas?is a perfect combination of plot and acrobatic skills. It has been staged for more than 30 times and all tickets were sold out," said Sun Lei, deputy director of Shandong province's Culture and Tourism Department.
All the works presented at the 11th China Acrobatic Exhibition were all produced after 2019. They have been enhanced to meet audiences' demand for modernity while applying traditional acrobatic skills.
