Talented tenor's first solo show slated for Beijing
Chinese tenor Han Peng will give his first solo recital at Beijing Concert Hall on Sept 20, performing Chinese and Western arias.
Baritone Yang Xiaoyong and soprano Li Xiuying will be guest performers.
"I've been dreaming about a solo concert, and finally I am making it happen," says Han. "It's been 15 years since I started performing as a tenor. The concert will serve as a kind of review of my career."
The tenor has gained fame for his roles in opera productions by the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, including Rickshaw Boy, Turandot, and Tosca.
Graduating from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music majoring in vocal performance, Han won second place in the CCTV National Youth Singer Competition in 2013.
Other accolades include First Prize at the Turandot International Opera Competition in Verona in 2009, and first place in the Riccardo Zandonai International Competition for Young Opera Singers in 2010.
