Wuxi looks to become China 3x3 basketball hub
Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province has set its sights on becoming a hub of China 3x3 basketball, and a strategic cooperation agreement was inked between the Chinese Basketball Association and Wuxi municipal government on Nov 5.
The agreement states that the two sides will develop strategic cooperation in the construction of the Wuxi training base for China's 3x3 basketball team, a strategic study center for China 3x3 basketball, a center for 3x3 basketball competitions, and a development and exchange center for youth basketball culture.
CBA President Yao Ming said at the signing ceremony that the agreement will open the door to the further development of 3x3 basketball in China and expressed hope that 3x3 basketball will prosper in Wuxi.
Wuxi will further its cooperation with CBA to promote the rapid development of 3x3 basketball in the city, said Qin Yongxin, vice-mayor of Wuxi.
During Yao's visit in Wuxi, the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Wuxi Masters 2023 tournament took place in the city's Huishan district and saw Paris (FRA) clinching their inaugural World Tour title of the year.
Yao praised the district for its cultural and sports undertakings and promotion of basketball and expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation with the district after learning about its complete basketball infrastructure and large number of basketball enthusiasts at a meeting with local officials.
