Despite renewed global efforts to tackle climate change over the past year, Africa has faced a run of lethal and unprecedented extreme weather events this year. In Libya, Storm Daniel resulted in massive flooding that killed thousands and resulted in many more going missing. In some areas in the Horn of Africa, which has experienced severe drought for three years, flash flooding caused great life loss.
Despite the challenges caused by global warming, Africans are learning to adapt. In Makueni county in Kenya, farmers are embracing climate change mitigation measures to help them harvest their crops when there is minimal rainfall.
