In response to a recent surge in city fires attributed to e-bike charging, volunteers in Binzhou, East China's Shandong province, have taken action.

The unpaid workers have been educating residents about the risks associated with obstructing hallways and fire escapes with e-bikes.

Volunteers have also been giving advice to locals on how electrical fires can cause severe damage, or on how to properly charge an electric bike.

The efforts are part of a recent initiative by the State Grid's Binzhou Power Supply Co, to promote safe and efficient use of electricity while increasing awareness of fire safety.

In collaboration with the local fire department, volunteers from the company have been sharing essential electrical troubleshooting tips and appliance safety advice, hanging informative banners in streets and distributing leaflets and promotional gifts to heighten impact.

In addition to their community outreach efforts, the volunteers have conducted home visits to identify and promptly rectify electrical hazards. According to the company, they have distributed over 260 informational materials, attended 21 households, and successfully addressed five electrical hazards.

The power supplier said it remains committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities through continuous practical initiatives that emphasize the importance of safeguarding and preventing fires.
