Tech innovations key to unleash new quality productive forces
More tangible efforts must be made from Chinese companies to tackle bottleneck problems, as the country's development of new quality productive forces will rely on technological innovations in the future, said a national lawmaker on the sidelines of the ongoing two sessions on Friday.
Huang Li, chairman of high-tech firm Wuhan Guide Infrared Co Ltd and a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress, said that through dedicated efforts, the company has finally made breakthroughs on brain-computer interface chips, infrared thermal imaging and detectors, and become a world leader in these areas.
Brain-computer interface, or BCI, is basically a technology that enables a person to control an external device using brain signals. With vanguard applications like helping people with disabilities, the technology has been a key technological battlefield for global competition, industry experts said.
Huang said the company has developed a two-way BCI technology with 65,000 channels, while foreign counterparts only boast such technologies with 3,000 channels in one-way.
"Such technology will give (people with) prosthetics a real sense of touch and provide possibilities for treating neurological diseases such as epilepsy, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and depression. In the future, it may help users to control external devices like computers,"he added.
Huang said, "As a high-tech enterprise, we must continue to develop more cutting-edge technologies to make 'dreams come true.' We will contribute to the construction of new quality productive forces with more technological innovations."
