?Shanghai Polytechnic University expands global partnership
Shanghai Polytechnic University is further expanding its global partnership to promote international cooperation, with more agreements signed with overseas companies, universities and institutions during its ongoing Global Partnership Week.
Armin Kienle, founder of TechProtect GmbH in Germany, has been one of the university's teaching partners for about a decade. And this time, representing his company, Kienle signed a cooperation agreement with Shanghai Polytechnic University on Wednesday, aiming to strengthen bilateral collaboration on the scientific research in the field of e-waste.
On the same day, the university also signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Rousse in Bulgaria, which will facilitate student change and cooperation on innovation and entrepreneurship programs on both sides.
Earlier last week, the university signed another cooperation agreement with Technological University Dublin, eyeing joint student training in computer science and other areas and also attracting more international students to China.
To date, Shanghai Polytechnic University has established steady cooperation with 171 universities and institutions from 38 countries and regions, with nearly 150 overseas collaborative programs carried out. Currently, some 170 overseas students are studying at the university. They come from 27 countries and regions such as Russia, Germany, France and Kazakhstan, according to Lu Min, Party chief of the university.
He also noted that the university now has 20 international joint laboratories, centers and practice bases, expanding 43 percent in number compared to 2020. It has set up six all-English majors, with more than 70 foreign experts visiting the university every year in a normal case.
"The Global Partnership Week has become an important platform for the university in promoting international cooperation and exchange," said Lu.
During the Global Partnership Week, the university will organize a series of activities such as academic salons, overseas project promotional meetings, matchmaking of cooperative projects, as well as campus tours and visits in Shanghai.
Established in 1960, Shanghai Polytechnic University has cultivated nearly 200,000 technical talents in various sectors, among which are over 130 national and provincial level model workers. Thus the university is also honored as "the cradle of model workers".
