Chinese and Hungarian media organizations held an event on Wednesday in Budapest to further consolidate people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

The event was jointly hosted by China Media Group and the Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund of Hungary to celebrate the 75th anniversary of China-Hungary diplomatic ties, the China Global Television Network reported.

Several projects, including the broadcasting of CMG's programs in Hungary, the co-production of documentaries and CMG's cooperation with the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, were launched at the event, according to the report.

Participants praised the outcomes of the bilateral cultural exchanges.

Former Hungarian president Pal Schmitt said China and Hungary have trusted and supported each other over the past 75 years.

Schmitt, a Hungarian member of the International Olympic Committee and a former Olympic champion, said he is pleased to see that China is becoming more and more influential in the field of sports.

The former president said he looks forward to CMG contributing more to the friendly ties between the two countries and bringing the two peoples closer to each other.

Former Hungarian prime minister?Peter Medgyessy, who delivered a video speech at the event, said the traditional friendship between China and Hungary has become ever stronger with the passage of time.

The bilateral ties have seen unprecedented development in recent years, Medgyessy said, adding that he believes that media cooperation between the two countries will promote mutual understanding and affinity between their peoples.

Shen Haixiong, vice-minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of CMG, said Hungary is China's good friend and an old friend in Europe.

CMG has conducted extensive and in-depth cooperation with the Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund of Hungary, as well as with Hungarian media, Shen said.
