University forum set to foster collaborations in engineering education
China University of Petroleum (Beijing) played host to a pivotal forum centered on carbon-neutrality energy development and engineering education, drawing together a distinguished gathering of 14 academicians, experts, scholars, and industry representatives. The event, held on Sunday, served as a platform for in-depth discussions and knowledge exchange on pioneering energy education models and fostering robust international collaborations in engineering education within China.
At the forum, participants deliberated on innovative approaches to energy education, with a focus on advancing high-quality international partnerships in engineering education across the nation. A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the "carbon-neutral exemplary energy collaborative education platform", a collaborative initiative geared toward supporting China's "dual-carbon" strategy and bolstering national energy security.
With a strategic emphasis on aligning oil and gas industries with new energy paradigms and achieving net-zero emissions, the platform integrates top-tier resources from academic institutions and enterprises. By jointly constructing a talent training ecosystem, nurturing innovative leaders, developing carbon-neutral educational materials, and sharing advancements in talent cultivation and scientific innovation, the platform aims to catalyze the green and low-carbon transformation of the energy sector.
Furthermore, esteemed companies including Zhenhua Oil, the Shymkent Oil Refinery under the China National Petroleum Corporation, and the China-Kazakhstan natural gas pipeline joint venture have pledged collaboration with the university to establish education practice bases for international students.
This collaborative endeavor seeks to bolster the high-quality progression of the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen cooperative ties, and forge innovative models of university-enterprise joint education in the modern era. By providing enhanced talent and technological support for energy cooperation among countries involved in the BRI, this partnership aims to drive sustainable energy development on a global scale.
