Government honors 48 brave hearts
The central government honored 48 individuals on the List of Justice and Courage for the second quarter of the year.
The Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China Central Committee released the list in Beijing on Friday, which was compiled based on online attention and recommendations from various regions and departments.
Some of these individuals were seriously injured, while others made the honorable sacrifice, demonstrating heroic acts of selflessness in saving others endangering their lives.
Their courageous acts were promptly recognized and rewarded through the exemplary selection mechanisms of various regions and departments, garnering wide attention from all sectors of society, according to the commission.
Many of these brave individuals' exemplary deeds have garnered over 500 million online views. The online views of exemplary deeds of Hu Youping, who sacrificed her own life to save a Japanese woman and child, surpassed 1.3 billion.
In June of this year, 54-year-old Hu discovered a person wielding a knife attacking a Japanese woman and child at a bus stop in Suzhou, Jiangsu province. She rushed forward to stop the assailant, despite being stabbed multiple times by the suspect and unfortunately passed away after rescue efforts failed.
The selection of brave individuals is organized by the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission and hosted by the China Foundation for Justice and Courage. Since September 2022, they have released the list of brave individuals quarterly for seven times, with a total of 388 individuals receiving recognition.
