The Chinese white dolphin is a rare species, with an estimated population of no more than 5,000. It is classified as a vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

They mainly reside in provincial-level regions such as Fujian, Guangdong and Guangxi Zhuang, typically in waters about 10 meters deep in areas where freshwater and seawater mix, where they can find a rich variety of food sources.

When young, white dolphins appear gray or black, but as adults, they are generally pink or white all over. They can grow to a length of over 2 meters, with some individuals reaching up to 2.8 meters.

It is estimated that about 300 Chinese white dolphins live in Sanniang Bay in Qinzhou, Guangxi. If you take a boat out to sea there, there is a 95 percent chance of encountering them.
