Zhang Hongli, former vice-president of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, has been indicted in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on suspicion of taking bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said on Thursday.

The prosecutors noted in the indictment that Zhang should be held criminally liable, as he was found to have made use of his positions to seek profits for some individuals and departments and allegedly accepting huge bribes in return.

During the investigation and prosecution stage, the prosecutors informed Zhang of his rights, questioned him, and listened to his lawyer's opinions, the procuratorate said.

The case was recently filed with the Hangzhou Intermediate People's Court, it added.

Zhang, 59, a native of Heilongjiang province, had worked in financial and bank systems for over 20 years before he was placed under investigation in November for suspected serious violations of the Party discipline and national laws.
