Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in this Guangdong provincial capital has become the entry and exit airport with the most passenger air routes and flight volumes linking the mainland to Africa.

According to a statement released by the Baiyun Immigration Inspection Station, the airport now has six flight routes connecting Guangzhou with major African cities.

The airport now has 27 passenger flights and five cargo flights to and from Africa per week, playing a role in strengthening the ties between Guangdong province and African nations.

According to statistics from the Baiyun Immigration Inspection Station, more than 156,000 individuals from various African countries have arrived on the mainland, while over 94,000 mainland residents have left for African countries through Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport since the beginning of the year.

The upcoming 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation will open in Beijing later this week.

More than 40,000 African nationals entered Guangzhou from Baiyun International Airport, and over 26,000 mainland residents left the airport for African countries during the two months of summer holidays from July 1 to Aug 31 alone, said the statement.

Sun Huang, deputy director of the Inspection Division of the Baiyun Immigration Inspection Station, said entry and exit departments would continue to spare no effort to introduce various entry and exit facilitation measures, improve inspection efficiency and optimize the customs clearance experience to provide even better services to foreign passengers in and out of the airport in the months to come.
