On Sept 23, Fan Junyan, a staff of State Grid Yangzhou Power Supply Company, discovered through the "load response cockpit" that the power consumption load of an enterprise in Yangzhou was relatively high during peak hours. After understanding the production situation of the enterprise, she submitted suggestions of "peak avoidance" production to the company. Taking into consideration the production plan, the company is expected to save 1.2 million yuan ($0.17 million) in operating costs per month.

The "load response cockpit", which is a power consumption load management system developed by State Grid Yangzhou Power Supply Company in October 2023, integrates 18 categories of information ranging from basic user information, power supply and demand information, and resource distribution information. It has three functions: customized short message push, load grid management, and real-time response monitoring, which enables it to quickly respond to the management requirements of power grid supply and demand balance.

"We independently developed the information push function module. Customized short messages are generated according to different user needs and can be sent simultaneously to different people such as on-site community managers, enterprise leaders, and power consumption service personnel, solving the problem of low efficiency of manual telephone contact in the past," Chen Meng, deputy director of the marketing department of State Grid Yangzhou Power Supply Company, said.

Following the launch of the "load response cockpit", users, relevant government management departments, and power supply enterprises can manage their power supply and demand situations in real time and have efficient interactions with the load analysis time for a single user shortened from 30 minutes to 2 minutes. In the next step, State Grid Yangzhou Power Supply Company plans to continue exploring more intelligent human-computer interaction pages to achieve "fully automated" load management.
