As Spring Festival nears, Shanghai's Jinshan district introduces the "Celebrate Chinese New Year in Jinshan Ancient Town" series, featuring cultural and tourism activities for the festive season.

Centered around key regions such as Fengjing, Zhujing, and Jinshanzui Fishing Village, and incorporating the distinctive traits of each town and village, Jinshan strives to cultivate a rich atmosphere for Spring Festival, which was inscribed on the UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity last month.

During the 2025 Spring Festival, Jinshan will unveil 36 key cultural and tourism activities along with 6 tourist routes. By showcasing traditional culture, local cuisine, ecological adventures, and scenic beauty, Jinshan seeks to evoke emotions, drive consumption, and promote the integrated development of culture, tourism, commerce, and agriculture.

For instance, in Fengjing ancient town, visitors can enjoy viewing New Year lanterns, traditional performances, and exploring the bustling New Year market.

Intangible cultural heritage inheritors will showcase traditional skills such as black pottery and peasant paintings at the market, where visitors can engage in making Chinese knots, woodblock prints, and lanterns.

In the upcoming Lego Park, a special New Year greeting event will provide a unique Chinese New Year experience for construction workers.

The Langxia Shantang area will gather specialty products from the Shanghai-Zhejiang paired regions as well as local delicacies, allowing visitors to savor diverse New Year flavors from all over the country.

At Jinshanzui Fishing Village, multiple intangible cultural heritage experiences will highlight the village's unique traditions, enabling visitors to engage in crafting intangible cultural heritage items.

Moreover, district cultural venues will host three Chinese New Year performances, two exhibitions, and two book club events. The New Year performances in Fengjing ancient town will encompass various forms, including traditional songs and dances, ancient musical instruments, and a lantern parade, allowing residents and visitors to appreciate the charm of traditional arts.

To enhance visitor experiences, the district will introduce consumer promotions, including blind boxes or lucky bags containing dining discount vouchers of varying amounts.
