Pan Gongsheng, the 52-year-old deputy governor of the China's central bank, has been appointed to take additional post as the director of State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE), the country's top foreign exchange regulator, reported Caixin on Tuesday.

The former SAFE director Yi Gang, 57, who is also a deputy governor of the People's Bank of China, will be appointed as deputy director of the Office of the Central Leading Group on Financial and Economic Affairs, while retaining his position in the central bank, the media said.

An internal notice has announced the change, according to Caixin, but the PBOC has not yet reported that to the public.

According to the PBOC's website, Pan was appointed as deputy governor since June 2012. He is also a member of the monetary policy committee.

Pan worked as vice-president of Agricultural Bank of China from 2008 to 2012. He got a PhD degree in economics at Renmin University of China.
