A naked maiden on a pale-colored horse, a large tree with pink blossom, a statue named "John" with his right index finger pointing to the sky and his brain fully exposed…These are the showpieces at the "From Nature to Mind: Chinese Contemporary Art Exhibition".

The exhibition's opening ceremony was held at the Today Art Museum in Beijing, on September 3.

Ending on September 18, the event will display contemporary art works from about 75 Chinese artists.

Three sections at the exhibit, named "Spirit of the Academy", "Extension of Water and Ink" and "Contemporary Exploration", feature hundreds of paintings and statues with different styles.

"We established the art group 'From Nature of Nature' when I was stills a PhD student in Tsinghua University," said Shu Yi, curator of the event.

"We spent a lot of energy and time in collecting these works, and delighted that the exhibition could be eventually presented to people."

The event, as a Communication and Exchange Promotion Project, received funding from the 2015 Annual National Art Fund. Some 100 guests and representatives from Communication University of China, Renmin University, Beijing Film Academy and other cultural institutions attended the ceremony.
