日前教育部召開(kāi)新聞發(fā)布會(huì)，決定從3月開(kāi)始，組織專(zhuān)人對(duì)高校落實(shí)國(guó)家助學(xué)貸款的情況進(jìn)行巡回督察和督辦，對(duì)于經(jīng)辦銀行提出的不按時(shí)還款等嚴(yán)重違約的學(xué)生，將在新聞媒體上公布這些學(xué)生的姓名、身份證號(hào)、畢業(yè)學(xué)校等信息。

報(bào)道中的loan defaulters 可以用文章里的另一句話來(lái)解釋?zhuān)磘he debtors who fail to repay their interest-free college loans（拖欠償還銀行所發(fā)放的無(wú)息貸款的學(xué)生）。Defaulter來(lái)源于動(dòng)詞default（拖欠債務(wù)；違約不履行義務(wù)），舉個(gè)例子：He defaulted on his payments for support of the child（他拖欠給孩子的撫養(yǎng)費(fèi)），句中的介詞on可以省略。
值得一提的是，default除了有"拖欠"的意思外，還常表示"比賽棄權(quán)；法庭傳訊時(shí)未出席"，例如：They defaulted in the badminton tournament（他們?cè)谟鹈蝈\標(biāo)賽中棄權(quán)了），相應(yīng)的，defaulter可以指"缺席者，受傳時(shí)不到庭的人"。另外，default做名詞時(shí)常和介詞by連用，如：He lost the tennis match by default（他因棄權(quán)而輸了網(wǎng)球賽）。
