The upcoming Spring Festival is likely to make people indulge in feasting and then gain a few unwanted pounds. The California Walnut Commission comes to the rescue, recently launching an H5 interactive page on WeChat to promote its new Wallie's 7-Minute Workout Challenge program in China, as well as a new California walnut and salmon salad recipe, to help people stay fit and healthy.

The seven-minute workout features the commission's "Wallie" mascot doing a series of 12 basic body exercises, while the new salad recipe was developed in conjunction with Sweetie Salad, which is one of China's most popular salad-delivery services made famous by a promotion with shirtless "Spartans" that went viral online.

During a launch event last week, a professional fitness trainer took guests through the workout, which consists of high-intensity bodyweight exercises, such as push-ups, sit-ups and planking.

Guests at the event also had a walnut-salmon salad-making class presented by Sweetie Salad. The new recipe combines California walnuts with vegetables and fruits. Besides being tasty, the new recipe indicates the convenience and flexibility of the walnut as a food ingredient.

The Wallie's 7-Minute Workout Challenge has been available since Jan 11 on WeChat. During the promotional period, people will get the chance to taste the limited edition of the California walnut salmon salad from Sweetie Salad.
