The letter exchanges lasted for seven years because her husband served in the military far away from home. He came home in 1957 and they finally got the chance to meet.

"We didn't dislike each other and then agreed to get married after the first meeting. That's it," Qiu said.

Stories like these attracted many young people who found them interesting and unbelievable.

Since May, Qiu's broadcast has captured nearly 240,000 followers, most of whom were born in the 1990s.

Qiu said she was even more popular on the streamlining platform than her granddaughter from whom she learned how to do the broadcast.

"I saw her making live radio shows with her mobile phone when she came home during May Day holiday. I found it new and interesting, and then asked her to download an app for me on my iPad," she said.

She watched and learned, and 10 days later, she put on her own live video. After that she got crazy about the live broadcasting.

"You do not need to type, and can get many friends through the video," she said.
