2015-08-14

The city of Linjiang, Jilin province was declared a "Land of Longevity" at a China's health promotion meeting, on Aug 12, according to a chinajilin.com Aug 14 report, which explained that the decision came after a lengthy investigation, questionnaire, discussion, assessment and public review process.

The meeting's assessment committee found that, today, Linjiang has more than 29,000 people aged 60 or above, accounting for 17 percent of its total population, and an average lifespan three years higher than the national average. It also found that the people of Linjiang generally feel happier than people in other cities across the nation, all of which mean that it meets the international "Land of Longevity" standard.
