Comment on "Time China changed its outlook" (China Daily, Nov 15)
I agree with the letter. There is no need to stop increasing Chinese workers' wages. Although factory owners always complain that workers' wages are very high, low wages have been one of the main factors for the success of Chinese manufacturing industries.
Three important factors have influenced China's success: dedication of workers, energy of factory owners and the country's infrastructure, including reliable electricity supply and a dense network of excellent roads.
And in all likelihood, China will retain its special advantage in manufacturing even if workers' wages are raised. The rise in workers' wages should not be seen as a threat to the economy but a positive development that will contribute to social stability by helping narrow the wealth gap.
