Roles China should play
Comment on "China still a developing nation" (China Daily, Nov 25)
Being the second largest economy in the world, China has the ability to do and share many developed nations' global duties. The rise of China has shown the world not only its great economic influence, but also a new way of global development, something which the Western powers seem to have lost focus on.
The time is now for China to endeavor to become a driving force for fairer globalization.
But we should remember that China's development is not balanced, with many of its areas still underdeveloped. Besides, its softer power such as cultural influence lags far behind that of Western nations.
