Culture, tourism sector set to boom in Siming
Siming district in the coastal city of Xiamen, East China's Fujian province boasts a pleasant climate and beautiful scenery, and has witnessed a boom in the culture and tourism sector as seaside tourism has become a prime choice for visitors.
In recent years, the district has released a slew of supportive measures to promote the integrated development of culture, tourism, film and television industries, which is expected to help build Xiamen into a world-class tourism and leisure city.
Official data shows that from 2019 to the first quarter of this year, Siming has received more than 162 million visitors, and generated a total tourism revenue of nearly 236.53 billion yuan ($35.73 billion).
Siming will continue to promote the development and prosperity of its culture and tourism sector in the coming years. Efforts will be made to develop integrated tourism and the homestay industry with a number of high-level tourist attractions to be built, and a slew of supportive measures to be released, in a bid to push forward the high-quality development of Siming's culture and tourism industry.
The Siming government will also focus on the innovative development of traditional culture, and the inheritance of intangible cultural heritages, which is expected to inject fresh vitality into traditional culture.
The district has also rolled out specific measures to shore up the confidence of its culture and tourism market operators and workers who have been hit hard by the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic, as well as promote the transformation and upgrading of the tourism sector.
A number of themed activities were also launched during the five-day May Day holiday, which have helped the tourism sector recover from the side effects of the global pandemic, and bolster development of the night economy.
