Jeremy Lin is returning to New York, but not to play basketball with the Knicks where he created the phenomenon known as "Linsanity" during the 2011-12 season. Lin and the Brooklyn Nets have reportedly agreed to a three-year contract worth $36 million.

The Vertical reported Friday that Lin and the Nets had agreed to terms on a three-year, $36 million deal that will bring the point guard back to New York.

Lin announced the move Friday morning on his Twitter account: "The journey continues…thankful for the next chapter!!"

He can't be signed officially until July 7 because of the NBA's free-agent moratorium.

With the Knicks, over a 25-game stretch as a starter, Lin averaged 18.2 points after playing essentially zero minutes previously.

Since then, Lin has spent time with the Houston Rockets, the Los Angeles Lakers and most recently the Charlotte Hornets, where he registered 11.7 points per game last season.
