BEIJING - China's top legislator Zhang Dejiang met with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni in Beijing on Tuesday.

Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said China and Uganda have always trusted, respected and helped each other. He characterized the relations as a model of how China and Africa seek mutual benefit and common prosperity.

As China-Uganda relations have broad prospects, the NPC would like to deepen cooperation with Uganda's parliament, Zhang said, pledging to increase exchanges at all levels, share more experience on legislation, supervision and state governance.

He also called for the implementation of a China-Uganda bilateral investment treaty and an agreement on avoiding dual taxation.

Museveni, on a state visit to China, said Uganda appreciates China's support on development and opposing colonialism.

Museveni called for stronger legislative collaboration with China.

On Saturday, the Ugandan president attended the opening ceremony of the 2015 annual conference of the Boao Forum for Asia in south China's Hainan Province.
