TEHRAN - Vote counts on Iran's two key elections of the parliament and Assembly of Experts ended on Monday, the Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli announced.

"The turnout was around 50 percent in the capital Tehran and some 62 percent across the country which is a good turnout under the current circumstances," Rahmani Fazli was quoted as saying by Press TV.

The results of the counted polls will be sent to the Guardian Council, the high legislative body of the country, for approval, Rahmani Fazli said.

The Iranian minister said that some of the candidates did not win the required number of votes and the fate of the remaining seats will be decided on the second round of election which will most likely fall in mid-April.

Rahmani Fazli did not eleborate on the number of the seats, the fate of which would be decided in mid-April.
