The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, a core transportation hub project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, will implement reduced-speed traffic measures as Typhoon Yagi approaches.

The Zhongshan meteorological observatory upgraded the city's typhoon warning signal to yellow at about 5 pm on Thursday. The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is expected to enter a section of the typhoon that will bring gusts of wind reaching levels seven to nine.

Starting from 9 pm on Thursday, the speed limit on the link will be restricted to 70 kilometers per hour and below, with the lifting of restrictions to be announced separately, according to the Guangdong transportation authorities.

Drivers are advised to adjust travel plans, control speed, drive cautiously, follow traffic signs, and obey the instructions of on-site public security, traffic police and road management staff members.

Yagi, the 11th typhoon this year, has become a super typhoon with winds up to 209 kilometers per hour and is heading towards Hainan, according to the provincial meteorological bureau.

The typhoon is forecast to make landfall on Friday afternoon somewhere between the city of Qionghai in Hainan and Dianbai county in Guangdong province, according to the National Meteorological Center.
