NANCHANG, Jiangxi province - He Jianbin of Guangzhou joined fellow swimmer Shao Yiwen as the most decorated athlete at the Chinese City Games with his fifth gold in the pool on Monday, while a blunder by world champion Ye Shiwen costed her team a relay medal.

He won his fifth gold of the meet as his squad that also included Luo Lingfeng, Wu Yonglin and Zeng Xianliang captured the men's 4x100m medley relay title in 3:42.25. Zhengzhou's foursome came second in 3:44.61, and Shanghai Minhang placed third in 3:45.89.

Ye Shiwen could have matched He and Shao, but swimming the anchor leg in women's 4x100m medley relay, she had leaped into the pool before team mate Lu Routing touched home, and Hangzhou were thus disqualified and had their silver medals stripped of.

"I saw team Zhengzhou were in the lead, so I made a haste. It's my fault," Ye told reporters after the competition.

Zhengzhou won the intense relay race with a time of 4:05.30, just 0.09 seconds ahead of Hangzhou. Shanghai Minhang, who came third in 4:10.32, moved up into runner-up and Guangzhou, who finished fourth in 4:10.89, earned the bronze.

Ye is argubaly the biggest name in pool events at the City Games, an event designed for athletes aged under 20. The 15-year-old girl won gold medals in 200m IM, 400m IM, 4x100m free relay and 4x200m free relay here.

Wang Shun of Ningbo made it four golds out of four events after posting a world 8th-ranked time of 14:56.92 in the 1,500m freestyle finale.

"I'm happy that I survived the past week. I feel exhaused right now," said Wang, who also grabbed four titles at last month's national championships.

Li Zhesi of Shenyang successfully retained her crown in the women's 50m freestyle in 25.17, followed by Yao Jianan of Chongqing Yubei in 25.69 and Ye Shiwen of Hangzhou in 25.75.

"I had hoped to win two gold medals, but finished with just one, so I feel a little bit disappointed," said Li, the reigning Asian Games champion in the event.
